Rediscovering the Rhythm of Nature

Rhythm and sound are essential to my work – both as a composer 🎶 and in my soul 🙏
A Reawakened Connection
I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature.
As a child in Northern Greenland, it was immediate – present in everything: the light, the air, the landscape.
I would run freely across the mountains, feeling the bare rocks, the soft heather, and the crystal-clear puddles – all set against the backdrop of enormous UNESCO-listed icebergs! 💖
The sea is raw and powerful, frozen in winter when dogsleds replace boats as transport between towns and settlements.
The silence is vast, unbreakable.
Today, I live in central Jutland in Denmark, surrounded by a very different kind of nature.
Rolling hills, dense forests, the deep lakes of Silkeborg.
It is green, gentle, and embracing – but also filled with man-made sounds: trains, motorways, planes, lawnmowers, chainsaws 🫣 🥰
Even far away from civilisation, there is a hum. The sounds are always there – a constant echo of the modern world.
Nature’s Recognisable Threads
Although the landscapes differ, I discover threads that tie them together.
The heather-covered hills at Sindbjerg and Stoubjerg bring back memories of Greenlandic summer scenes.
I’ve even found angelica – a wild plant here, rarely eaten – yet in Greenland, it’s a delicacy, enjoyed like sweets with a sprinkle of sugar 🍭🍬
I keep seeking new ways to connect with nature.
Swimming in the lakes year-round, feeling the rough texture of bark, the intense scent and soft surface of moss, following the trees’ cycle through the seasons.
In Greenland, nature was all-encompassing – here in Denmark, it requires a conscious decision to seek it out.
But it’s here! 🌿💚
A Dream to Send Out into the World
Even in a world where power sometimes speaks louder than the heart, I believe in the quiet, enduring rhythm of nature – a pulse that reminds us of what is eternal amidst all that is fleeting.
Through my music, I wish to share this experience – this way of listening – and I hope that someone, somewhere, might find resonance in it 💖
