*Nittaalaq Piffitsinni perortoq / Snowflake in the Embrace of Time* follows a snowflake’s journey through silence, light, movement and transformation. Born in the stillness of winter, beneath the sky and the Northern Lights, the snowflake gradually moves from innocence and wonder towards dissolution, maturity and memory.

The work explores the cycle of nature as a reflection of our inner human development: from a child’s earliest perception to the awakening of consciousness, from melting and movement to a quiet ascent into the embrace of time.

Within an Inuit understanding of the world, everything around us possesses life, power and spirit — *Inua*. The snowflake therefore becomes more than an image from nature: it is a living being moving through time, light and transformation.

In the music, the clarity of the Arctic landscape meets a poetic narrative about identity, time and becoming — about that which is fragile, which falls, melts, rises and yet endures.

The fact that a Danish choir sings in Greenlandic and has commissioned a new work within this musical encounter adds another dimension: a step towards shared and mutual understanding between Greenland and Denmark, and between choral tradition and contemporary notated music.
